Bodhidharma Association is the oldest Buddhist association in Finland. It was founded in 1947 and was originally known by the name Buddhismin Yst\u00e4v\u00e4t \u2013 Buddhismens V\u00e4nner ry, The Friends of Buddhism. Our teacher is a Finnish monk Venerable Tae Hye sunim, who lives in Italy, but visits twice a year Finland. Our practice is based on the essential teachings of the main schools of Buddhism. It can be called buddhay\u0101na, or the means of awakening (from the dream ignorance). It includes various aspects of meditation: tranquillity and insight meditation, holistic deep meditation (Chan in Chinese, S\u014fn in Korean, Zen in Japanese) and contemplation of the four boundless states of mind\u00a0in an atmosphere of spiritual friendship. Buddhalainen Keskus Sampo Thursdays at 18-19.30 o\u00b4clock (short meditation; first time participants should come at 17.30 for instructions)<\/p>\n Monthly meetings:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n A day of meditation is usually held on the first Sunday of the month at 10-16 o\u00b4clock. The day consists of sitting and walking meditation, silent meal (each participant brings something) and physical exercise.<\/p>\n Yearly:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Two retreats, one in winter and one in summer. The retreat times will be posted on the \u201cTapahtumia\u201d (Events) part of the website as soon as a place and time has been set. All members pay a small annual fee and in return can freely use our library. Members also get 20% discount on retreat prices. With the help of annual payments from our members we can work for the spreading of Buddhist teaching in Finland through our meditation meetings, supporting monks, organizing retreats etc. You can participate in all our events without being a member and there is no fixed charges.
